K-C Bajai: Biography of a Wanna Be DeeJay
DJ noxSOMA (Sexiest Ole Man Alive)

K-C Bajai (aka DJ noxSOMA) has performed produced and broadcasted in venues from West Philly house parties to the Internet. His resume includes the unglamourous job of Bingo caller to the prestigious honor of co-producing and hosting a Webcast on Pennsylvania's premiere Internet Network. He's done college radio, Armed Forces Radio, non-commercial radio, underground radio and has even been a guest on a commercial talk station.
Note: In 2002, K-C altered his handled... he's now know as DJ K Swizzle.

Like many deejays of his generation, Bajai started spinning records at house parties in and around his West Philly neighborhood. More in demand for his record collection than his skills, Bajai emulated the blends he heard on the radio. The interest followed him to university where he hosted a weekly broadcast. Fighting the prog-rock format, Bajai dug through the limited library to fashion a unique program.

After bouncing from the West Coast to the Gulf Coast, Bajai ended up in Canada and scored a weekend slot on Armed Forces Radio where he promoted his weekly post-Bingo deejay night. The remote outpost attracted an international audience and Bajai flowed through sets consisting of everything from New Wave to hip-hop to Southern Rock.

Back in Philadelphia, Bajai completed his Photography degree, and soon after launched Philadelphia's first Generation-X targeted underground magazine. It wasn't long before KOLLAGE Magazine was recognized and copied. Bajai's music interest soon dominated the content of the "Magazine of the Visual Arts" Promotional activities for KOLLAGE melded fashion art and music in night club settings and Bajai and his associates took advantage of Philly's budding deejay culture. Although Bajai himself had did not take to the decks, he did work with now legendary DJs King Britt, Dozia Blakey, Randall Grass and Jeff Natt.

It wasn't until after the launch of Audiogliphix Magazine that Bajai had the time or ambition to once again warm the wheels.

Discovered through his anti-commercial radio rants in Audiogliphix, Bajai, in a clandestine tryst was offered the opportunity to be a part of Radio Mutiny, the infamous West Philly underground radio station. Bajai held down the Friday Night shift for a year and a half until the station was finally shut down. In between radio shifts, Bajai got the opportunity to spin during Radio Mutiny fundraisers at warehouses and small venues.

After Radio Mutiny, Bajai took to the Internet via the Media Bureau Network . His very first interview was with an unknown rapper by the name of Eminem. A month later Bajai was hosting the AG Cafe , the live Internet version of Audiogliphix Magazine. Acts from as far away as Maine, as well as local bands came through to visit and perform. While not officially a DJ show, Bajai got to practice his between segments of the show.

Bajai was discovered guesting at St. Jack's during DJ Lorne's night. This led to the month-long Audiogliphix Magazine residency in August of 2001. The night was so successful; the AG Squad (K-C Bajai, Ben Carroll, June Lopez & DJ Zollielama) was invited back for a more regular residency.

Final Fridays commences Friday, October 26th, 10p - 2am.
